Do you prioritise your ‘to do’ list over your ‘bucket’ list?
“A lot of people think that everything we want to do costs time and money.
But it’s not a matter of resources. It’s a matter of resourcefulness.
If you want to do something badly enough – when the what and the why is strong – the how will work itself out.”
Trav Bell, The Bucket List Guy
On the last podcast we heard Mel’s tips from her experience as a palliative care nurse in the cancer domain. Her daily definition of success is simple and liberating:
“How much FUN have I had today?!”
We sometimes lose the ability to know how we want to spend our time; how we have fun if we’re not working and doing the things we have to do or think we have to do.
Time to introduce Trav Bell – The Bucket List Guy – who has a formula to help us to figure out what all the fun things are that we want to do in our life. And travel/adventure is only 1 of the 12 categories in the formula.
Are you like me and have a bucket list that doesn’t quite feel right? Mine has adventures I want to have, but it never felt like the full story. Now I know why.
Trav’s formula is brilliant! He is on this planet to help others wake up and live theirs before it’s too late.
Trav has ticked off an impressive list of bucket list items, which he first wrote when he was 18:
- Hike to the Mt Everest advanced base camp
- Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
- Be a model for a life drawing class
- Complete an ironman triathlon
- Run a paperless business
- Walk the Kokoda Track
- Ride the Alpe D’Huez In France
- Visit The Happiest Country On Earth
- Meet Tim Ferriss
- Go To The Burning Man Festival.
Yours don’t need to be as massive as these!
Mini-experiments enable us to make a start, build our confidence and keep adding to our bucket list.
If you’re thinking, “How on earth do I find the time?”, start with working from home 1 day. If it goes well, you now have the evidence to shape that in your role. Then work from home 1 day every week, so you re-claim your commute time and dedicate it to something else.
If you want some help on this, simply book a free discovery session.
If speaking is on your list, you can book in a chat with Trav.
